Astrological Aspects for 2010
The Summer Solstice of 2010 on the 21st of June conjunction in early Cancer is hit by a Grand Cardinal Cross. The next Grand cross will occur on December 21, 2012. This current Grand cross is still in effect during early July. With the Sun in cardinal Cancer 00' in opposition to Pluto in cardinal Capricorn 04', Saturn in mutable Virgo at 28', but 3' from cardinal Libra in opposition to Uranus 00' in cardinal Aries and Jupiter 01' in Aries. This cardinal cross also creates 5 planets involved in squaring each other in respective order. Saturn squaring Pluto, Pluto squaring both Uranus and Jupiter which are in turn squaring the Sun, which in returning to the staring point is squaring Saturn.
Issues provoked during the grand cross aspect are the responsibilities toward Career versus Home/ Family; Issues of the Self versus the other or Relationships.
All the planets involved are in Cardinal signs (excepting Saturn which is degrees away from Libra a cardinal sign). The term Cardinal in astrology refers to a specific quality. The word Cardinal means first, and comes from the Latin cardinalis, with the meaning of principal or pivotal. The role of cardinal signs is to push forward, be first, to initiate.
So what we have are planets opposing each other seeking to be first or initiate. They're the instigators, ready to forge ahead with plans, and attract those that can support their efforts. Cardinal signs are leaders, and tend to be outgoing because they're engaged with the world in a dynamic way. They're restless to start new projects, and happiest when running the show. The Cardinal signs in Astrology are Aries (fire) which acts as a catayst and leads others by being commited to their own vision; Cancer(water) which uses the emotions as a catayst for change and to push into new territory; Libra(air) which seeks balance and leads through new ideas;Capricorn (earth) which leads through authority and is driven to create structure or a foundation for forward motion.
This Cardinal Cross sets in motion events and issues that will need to be healed during the time leading up to the next Grand cross of 2012, which will be in Mutable signs. The 2012 Grand Cross will address issues around shifting and flexibility. The word Mutable It's Latin root is mutabilis which means change, and its related to the words mutate and mutation. Mutable signs are the shapeshifters of each element, able to move into many forms, taking on different personas. They're flexible, adaptable and thrive on change. Because of their changeability they are able to see life from many different perspectives. There is a restless nature to mutable signs in preparation for the end of the season. They bring people and ideas together in an innovative synthesis. The mutable signs are Gemini (air)which expresses through the drive to communicate ideas and information; Virgo (earth) which expresses through service, healing and purification; Sagittarius (fire) which expresses through the desire to gather knowledge through education and travel, while using intuition to sift the truth from experiences; Pisces (water) which expresses through the deepest of feeling, and emotion, experiencing the emotions of the collective as the last sign of the zodiac.
